On September 11, 2001, the world witnessed one of the horrifying terror attacks in the world when two planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre at the United States.
The attack lasted for over 102 minutes and the terrorists which were associated with the Islamic terrorist group Al-Qaeda hijacked four aeroplanes and carried out suicide attacks against its targets in the country. The third plane hit the Pentagon building, just outside Washington DC and the fourth one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
The gruesome attack killed over 3,000 people. It also triggered a severe investigation by the Americans. After this, thousands of Muslims were forced into detention. On the 19th anniversary of the painful and frightful attack, thousands of Americans paid their tributes in a situation where the world is already battling with the deadly novel coronavirus. Many people also expressed their grief and sorrow for the ones who were killed during the attacks through social media accounts.
Nineteen years ago, under clear blue skies, 102 minutes changed our lives forever. On Fri., Sept. 11, we lead the nation and the world in observing the 19th anniversary of the 2001 attacks and ask you to join us in commemorating. https://t.co/skecFxXgmC #Honor911 pic.twitter.com/edJBxwUamQ
