Sharjah: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly visited the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and took stock of preparations for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
Ganguly had been a part of several One Day Innings (ODIs) which were held at Sharjah. On that cricket ground, he had scored more than 700 runs which includes a century and five half-centuries.
He visited the stadium and praised the new look of the ground where the matches will be held along with other two venues for this year’s IPL.
Along with Ganguly, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hemang Amin were also present to take the first-hand look of the preparations for IPL 2020.
Ganguly also shared the photos on his social media handles from his visit to the Sharjah stadium.

According to Gulf News, there are chances that Ganguly may also assess the preparations at the other IPL venues- Dubai and Abu Dhabi as well.
The former India captain, arrived at Abu Dhabi earlier, on September 9. He also completed the mandatory 6-day quarantine period before heading to Sharjah.
The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will hold 12 matches for the thirteenth edition of IPL which will be held this year. The IPL teams- Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face each other for their first match for the tournament on September 22.
It will also hold an afternoon match on October 4, for the match of Mumbai Indians (MI) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SH).
Ganguly said that the young generations are looking forward to playing at Sharjah where cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar made unforgettable memories.
The stadium had been recently renovated with new canopies, an upgraded royal suite, commentary box and VIP Hospitality boxes keeping COVID-19 protocols in mind.
