Kolkata: English football giants Manchester United on Monday, congratulated the Kolkata club East Bengal on their centenary celebrations and also for securing a spot in the 2020-21 season Indian Super League (ISL).
The Red Devils, in a letter addressed to the East Bengal’s General Secretary Kalyan Majumder, wrote, “We would like to hereby congratulate East Bengal Football Club and the millions of East Bengal Fans for its Centenary year celebrations. We are well aware about the rich history of your Club and its colourful journey since 1st of August 1920.”
The Red and Golds recently roped in a Kolkata-based cement giants Shree Cement Foundation as their new investor and are ready to take part in the ISL.
Over the development, the English football club expressed their happiness and stated, “We are also happy to know that all the efforts will be made to see East Bengal figuring in this season’s Indian Super League and we hereby send our best wishes for your new journey.”
Both the parties have formed a new company under the name of Shree Cement Foundation that will pick up the bid proposal for a spot in the ISL on behalf of East Bengal.
