Kolkata: An unbeaten century (100*) from Vivek Singh helped Bengal collect full points in their second tie of Group B of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at Eden Gardens on Tuesday. They beat Jharkhand by 16 runs.
Opting to bat first, Bengal made 161 for six and in reply, Jharkhand could only manage 145 for nine at the end of allotted 20 overs.
Vivek dedicated his maiden ton to his father Birendra Singh. “It was satisfying to hit a century to a winning cause of Bengal. I would like to dedicate this to my father,” Vivek said at the end of the match. Vivek completed his hundred in just 64 balls laced with 13 boundaries and three hits over the fences.
Meanwhile, in another match, Hyderabad registered their first victory of the tournament beating Odisha by six runs at the Jadavpur University Second Campus ground.
In reply to Hyderabad’s 153 for eight, Odisha were 147/4. Odisha lost their second game on the trot.
