Kolkata: Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakraborty, who joined BJP at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kolkata rally on Sunday, referred to himself as a “pure Cobra who can kill in just one bite”.

“I am proud to be a Bengali. I know you love my dialogues. This day is like a dream-come-true experience for me,” Mithun Da said while addressing the gathering here.

Enthralling the crowd with popular dialogues from his films, the National award-winning actor said: “Marbo ekhaney…lash porbay shoshaney (I will thrash you here. Your body will be found at the crematorium).”

Ami joldhorao noi, bele-borao noi…ami ekta cobra, ek chobol-ei chhobi (I’m not a harmless snake. I am a pure cobra. One strike and you become a photograph),” Chakraborty delivered another punch line.

Chakraborty landed at the Brigade Parade Ground at around 12 noon and was welcomed on the dais by BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and other state BJP luminaries.

Meanwhile, veteran Trinamool Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Sougata Roy came down heavily on Chakraborty for joining the saffron camp. “Mithun Chakraborty is someone who cannot be trusted,” Roy was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.

West Bengal will go into polls for 294-member Assembly in eight phases from March 27 to April 29. The counting will take place on May 2.
