Former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s Condition Worsens

Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was admitted to a private medical facility in southern part of the city after his health condition worsened on Monday afternoon. The former CM is 77 years old.

Bhattacharjee and his wife Mira Bhattacharjee, 71, tested Covid -19 positive. While the veteran CPM leader was under treatment at his Palm Avenue home, his wife Mira was admitted to another private hospital.

According to hospital sources, Bhattacharjee’s oxygen saturation level dropped below normal and was kept under observation in non-invasive ventilator support.

Bhattacharjee had a bout of illness last year when he was admitted to hospital.

Bhattacharjee was the chief minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 2011. The septuagenarian has been suffering from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and other age-related ailments for the last few years.
