Mumbai: India batsman Prithvi Shaw was halted midway in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra while heading to Goa for travelling without an E-Pass, a police officer said on Friday.

The incident happened at Amboli on Wednesday morning when the promising cricketer was on his way to Goa in his car, said the official.

He was allowed to leave after obtaining a pass. Shaw, who came back to his hometown Mumbai, after the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed indefinitely in view of rising Covid-19 cases, was going to Goa for vacation, the cop said.

The Maharashtra government has made it compulsory to have a pass for travelling in view of the second wave of the pandemic.

It is learnt that Shaw had applied for an E-Pass but left for Goa before it was issued. He only had a token issued against the application, the official further said.
