New Delhi: The Centre fixed the maximum price private hospitals can charge for Covid vaccines in the light of allegations of profiteering.
Under the new pricing, Covishield will be priced at ₹ 780, Covaxin at ₹ 1,410, and Russian Sputnik V at ₹ 1,145. The amount includes taxes as well as ₹ 150 service charge for the medical facilities.
The states have been asked to not allow private hospitals to charge more than ₹ 150 as service charge. The Centre asked the states to monitor the private facilities on a regular basis and stern action should be taken against any private vaccination centre for overcharging.
In government institutions, the vaccine will be provided free of cost to all eligible persons. Prime Minister Modi announced in his address to the nation on Monday evening.
