New Delhi: Launching a scathing assault on Pakistan, self-proclaimed Afghan President Amrullah Saleh has blamed Islamabad for propelling a Taliban surge in his country.
Speaking to Republic World, Saleh said, “The Taliban is the hand, the brain is the Pakistani establishment and the Army. Qureshi (Pak foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi) is acting as the FM of the Taliban trying to charm the world that they have changed. They have not changed. I am sure the West will regret it big time.”
Saleh who has tied up with the Northern Alliance to resist the Taliban, also pointed out, “We have the consensus that we need to have a two-track strategy pursuing a negotiated settlement and if the other side doesn’t accept then we need to be prepared for a military eventuality. We don’t want to take part in the Taliban Emirate.”
“Power through the barrel of gun, oppression, torture and exclusion is not acceptable and it will not last,” he said adding that the United States has to take flak for withdrawal of troops.
