Ahmedabad: India were 99 for three in reply to England’s first-innings’ 112, at close on the opening day of the third day-night Test against England here on Wednesday.
Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 57 off 82 balls and Ajinkya Rahane was on one. India are still 13 away from England’s total. Captain Virat Kohli was dismissed for 27 just moments before the stumps.
Earlier, left-arm spinner Axar Patel claimed six wickets and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged three to hasten the end of England’s first innings. Opener Zak Crawley was the highest scorer for the visitors with 53 — the only half-century of the innings. Captain Joe Root’s 17 was the second-highest.
