Balrampur: A 22-year-old Dalit woman was succumbed to death after being allegedly gang-raped by two men in the Gaisri police station area of Balrampur village in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, days after the horrifying gangrape of a Dalit woman by upper caste men in Hathras that shocked the nation.
After the post-mortem by a panel of four doctors, the victim was cremated on Wednesday night.
The incident took place on Tuesday when the girl went to take admission in a college near her village but did not return home till late evening, said superintendent of police of Balrampur, Dev Ranjan Verma.
Later, the girl returned on a rickshaw with glucose drip put in her hand while family members were looking for her.
The family members stated that the condition of the girl was not good so she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The family of the victim claimed that girl’s hands and legs were fractured but police officials stated that no such injuries were confirmed in the post-mortem report.
Following a complaint registered by the victim’s brother, the accused were arrested, officials said.
Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376-D for gang rape and 302 for murder have been registered against the rapists and further investigation is on, as quoted by the police, with the confirmation that the case will be sent to a fast track court and strictest actions will be taken.
