Kolkata: Two Civil Society Organizations Consumer-Voice, Delhi and Honcho Tech For Good Foundation, Kolkata are working towards strengthening Road Safety, to save Precious Lives on roads In West Bengal.

A workshop has been organized on 8th October 2021 at Rabindranath Tagore Centre, (ICCR), on workshop on Strengthening Road Safety, to Save Precious Lives on Roads in West Bengal.

In West Bengal in the year 2019, 10158 road accidents happened, and 5500 persons have been killed.

Every citizen is a Road User. Our current transport system has minimised the time of travel but on other hand each has increased the life Risk to decrease road casualties. We Urge to the Government, the Media to enforce the road safety policies and spread more awareness so everyone shall follow and maintain the good practise of Road Safety to save his or her own life and as well as the life of his or her fellow citizen. Also, in other hand we shouldn’t forget that Road Safety is not only the responsibility of Police and Govt. it is a surprising fact that more people die on road accidents every year than the casualties which caused due to COVID – 19 last 2 years. Under Save Drive Save Life Campaign our West Bengal Govt. under the guidance of our honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee is doing a marvellous job however citizen of West Bengal somehow are ignoring their priorities of saving life, so we believe, as a civil society organisation it is high time to participate in this noble cause to make people aware and understand the importance and necessities of Road Safety.
