New Delhi: Humiliated and denigrated former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh who is slated to visit the capital today, could meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda fuelling speculations that his joining the saffron unit is just a matter of time, sources tell India Today.
However, Singh’s media adviser Raveen Thukral refuted such conjectures stating he would be in Delhi on a personal visit. “Too much being read into Cap Amarinder Singh’s visit to Delhi. He’s on a personal visit, during which he’ll meet some friends and also vacate Kapurthala house for the new CM. No need for any unnecessary speculation,” Thukral was quoted by ANI.
But curiosity continues to soar in the wake of speculations around the veteran leader’s next political move following his unceremonious ouster as the Punjab CM. Singh hasn’t been candid about his next course of action but has declared he is in no mood to hang up his boots.
Though, the Punjab Congress is firmly in control of Singh’s bete noire and state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former soldier’s clout cannot be taken lightly. In all likelihood, Singh will not hesitate to throw his hat in the ring with the state polls due next year.
