Kolkata: It’s not all over for theatre personality-turned-politician Arpita Ghosh who has been appointed as Trinamool Congress state general secretary a few days after she announced her resignation as Rajya Sabha member.
State TMC president Subrata Bakshi made the announcement on Friday. The former Lok Sabha MP from Balurghat Ghosh’s resignation was accepted by the Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu a couple of days back.
Ghosh had earlier said that there are differences between being an MP of the Upper House of Parliament and that of the Lower House. “When I was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the COVID-19 pandemic started and I didn’t get much of a chance to deliver as an MP. I think I would concentrate more on organisational affairs now, and devote more time to my passion – theatre – if I stay here (West Bengal),” Ghosh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
