Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has recently released a video alleging that local Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rakesh Singh ‘provoked’ the crowd which resulted in the chaos. Singh has been named in one of the three FIRs filed by West Bengal Police.
The video shows Singh standing in the door of his vehicle and using ‘abusive’ words at TMC supporters. Singh’s convoy crossed Sirapur area before Nadda’s convoy was about to reach there.
Singh, who joined BJP after leaving Congress in 2019, was seen charging upon the crowd which appears agitated.
The police are now investigating why Singh was hanging outside his car. Police also recorded statements of eyewitnesses who said that Singh used abusive words insulting the faith and families of locals present there.
