Aus Vs Ind T20Is: Hosts Avoid Whitewash With 12-Run Win

Sydney: Australia defeated India by 12 runs in the third T20 match of the tournament but the Men In Blue clinched the series 2-1 after registering victory in first two clashes here on Tuesday.

After Australia posted 186 runs for the loss of five wickets, India batsmen were restricted to 174 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Apart from captain Virat Kohli, no batsman could run and the team could score 174 runs in response to the target of 187 runs. Kohli played an innings of 85 runs from 61 balls. As soon as his wicket fell, the Indian hope was also over. Apart from Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan scored the highest 28 runs. While Hardik Pandya scored 20 runs. Mitchell Swepson took the most 3 wickets for 23 runs.

On the basis of half-century innings of Matthew Wade and Glean Maxwell, the hosts Australia gave India a target of 187 runs in the third T20 match. Batting first, Australia scored 186 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Wade scored 80 off 53 balls and Maxwell scored 54 off 36 balls. In addition, Steve Smith scored 24, Darcy Short scored 7 runs. Washington Sundar got 2 and Natarajan and Thakur got one each.
