Kolkata: After a 2-0 drubbing in the season’s first football derby, East Bengal went down to Mohun Bagan yet again — this time in cricket. Mohun Bagan beat East Bengal by a slender 1-run margin in the Bengal T20 tournament at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday evening.
Opting to bat first, Mohun Bagan posted a competitive 121/5 in their allotted 20 overs. East Bengal in reply could only manage 120 losing eight wickets after 20 overs.
Anustup Majumdar top-scored for Bagan with a fluent 55 off 37 while Vivek Singh complimented well with 41 off 44. For East Bengal, Kanishk Seth claimed 3/31.
Sayan Sekhar Mondal was the only purple patch for East Bengal with his valiant 52 off 55. Writtick Chatterjee scalped 3/6 and Akash Deep returned figures of 2/24.
