Siliguri: Talented footballers from Duars and adjacent regions will get the opportunity to showcase their worth for United Sikkim Football Club thanks to former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia. The players may also get the opportunity to take part in the I-League, which is considered the second highest league in Indian football.
Founder of United Sikkim Football Club, Baichung Bhutia, is set to launch a training camp in Siliguri to provide the opportunity to the players from the hills. The football academy will come into existence at Shalugara in Siliguri from May 2.
Bhutia said that another academy is being set up at Shiva Temple adjacent to Siliguri. He also hopes to start a permanent training camp for United Sikkim Football Club at Bagdogra, close to Siliguri.
It is learnt that United Sikkim will launch ‘Coaches Clinic’ where professional training will be imparted to former or current footballers as well as coaches in the area. They will even get the opportunity to work with United Sikkim Football Club.
