Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday, organised a march from Titagarh to North 24 Pargana district demanding to hand over the probe of leader Manish Shukla’s murder to the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI).
On October 4, Manish Shukla, who was a close aide to Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh was shot dead in Titagarh. Presently, the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is probing the case.
In the evening, participants in the ‘hulla bol‘ march went across the arterial Barrackpore Trunk Road.
Singh demanded a free and fair investigation in the probe and he feels that it will not be possible an investigating agency of the West Bengal Police since the accusations are against the ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC). He said that only a central agency can bring the “real culprits” to book.
Another BJP leader, Sabyasachi Dutta from Bidhannagar area also participated in the march.
The BJP members also raised slogans against the TMC government in West Bengal and demanded to hand over the case to the CBI.
On October 13, the TMC also organised a peace march in Titagarh which was led by state cabinet minister Firhad Hakim and Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy.
