New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has swept the civic elections in Tripura winning 217 of 222 seats on which elections were held on Thursday, November 25.
The CPM has won three seats while the Trinamool and TIPRA Motha bagged one seat each.
Out of the 334 seats — including AMC with 51 wards, 13 municipal councils, and six nagar panchayats — the BJP has bagged 329 after being elected unopposed in 112 seats earlier.
Now the Agartala Municipal Corporation is without an opponent, with BJP winning all 51 wards.
The CPM managed to win one seat each in Ambassa Nagar Panchayat in Dhalai District, Panisagar Nagar Panchayat in North district and Kailashahar Municipal Coucil in Unakoti district.
The Trinamool Congress won the Ambasa seat while the regional party, TIPRA Motha won one seat in the same area.
