Kolkata: Bishwo Brahmando O Bigyan, a book on the eternal and unfathomable relationship of man and universe with science written by noted scientist, Motilal Maiti was launched by actress Ananya Chatterjee today at Hotel Kenilworth in the city. Also present on the occasion were Professor, Department of Chemistry, Jadavpur University, Suman Das and Chess Grandmaster, Dibyendu Barua. Maiti is a doctorate of Physics from Calcutta University, and was the first Indian scientist in the world to initiate the research in ‘Biophysical aspects of Polymorphism and their interactions with plant alkaloids’.
Bishwo Brahmando O Bigyan is an intensive and thoughtful research on scientific roots to the origin of life. The scientists and research scholars, present on the occasion, who have completed their respective PhD and post-Doctorate degrees under the tutelage of the author, were all praise for this intriguing research document of Maiti.
“I have been an avid student of science in my school and college days. The book is a really interesting read that documents the origin of life and the eternal link between Man, Universe and Science,” said Chatterjee.
Noted film director Shiboprosad Mukherjee, spoke about the importance of this book in quenching the thirst for scientific knowledge, in a video message.
“In my career in scientific research, I have come across legendary scientists like Meghnad Saha, Satyen Bose and Surjendu Bikash Kar Mahapatra, and my discussions with them have inspired me to write this book,” said Maiti, retired Director of Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR).
