New Delhi: Hate and boycott go hand in hand in India. Confectionary giant Cadbury was on the receiving end on Sunday after a boycott trend following claims that their products use gelatine “derived from beef”. Some users claimed that it hurts Hindu sentiments, reported NDTV.
There have been several films, celebrities, apparel brands, and advertisements that have found themselves at the receiving end — over hurt sentiments claim — in a trend.
A screenshot of an apparently Cadbury’s webpage has been widely shared on social media platforms that mention that gelatine used in their products is “halal certified and derived from beef”, NDTV reported. Since then, the calls for boycotts have been growing louder.
However, the company clarified that all its products made in India were “100% vegetarian” and that the “green dot on the wrapper” mentions that.
