New Delhi: The union government told the Supreme Court on Monday that it would refrain from filing a detailed affidavit on the Pegasus spyware citing national security.
The government added, “it had nothing to hide.” Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana, “statements on this issue cannot be made through affidavits… (and) filing and then making it (part of) public discourse is not possible”…. cannot file affidavits on Pegasus (as it) will affect national security… We cannot let terrorists know what software are being used….” The SC has reserved its order on the surveillance in the case.
