Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated two police staff in the cattle-smuggling case and also issued a second notice to Ganesh Bagaria, a close assistant to coal smuggler Anup Maji alias Lala.
Today, the CBI questioned officers who were in the rank of Assistant sub-inspector and a constable of state police for their supposed role in assisting and abetting cattle-smuggling in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) and customs officers near the Bangladesh border.
In the course of time, the CBI is also investigating the coal smuggling racket and has issued a notice for the second time to businessmen Bagaria.

According to the CBI sources, Bagaria had in a mail apparently told the agency that he would not be able to visit CBI’s Nizam Palace office in Kolkata as he was undergoing treatment for his ailment in Dubai.
CBI sources also claimed that investigators came across a pile of documents that were being seized from his Bangur Avenue residence that revealed his nexus with Lala.
