News Delhi: A senior police official on Thursday, said that five men, who had gone for hunting at Upper Subansiri district near Indo-China border, were allegedly kidnapped by Chinese military on Saturday.
The families of the abducted men said that the incident happened on Friday. Among them, two men managed to escape and informed the police.
A probe has been launched into this matter by Arunachal Pradesh police, according to PTI.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Taru Gussar said, “I have sent the officer-in-charge of the Nacho police station to the area to verify the facts and directed him to report immediately. However, the report will be available only by Sunday morning.”
Those who were kidnapped have been identified as Prasat Ringling, Toch Singkam, Ngaru Diri, Tanu Baker and Dongtu Ebiya. They all belong to the same Tagin community.
The family members who reside at the district headquarters in Daporijo, said that some of their relatives had left for Nacho to discuss the matter with the Indian Army.
Singkam’s family said that he was kidnapped at gunpoint.
Ninong Ering, Congress leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pasighat West also tweeted on this matter which read, “SHOCKING NEWS: Five people from Upper Subansiri district of our state Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been ‘abducted’ by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Few months earlier, a similar incident happened. A befitting reply must be given to #PLA and #CCPChina. @PMOIndia.”

Ering said that he wants a ‘befitting reply’ to China and it’s military. He also said that a few months ago, the same incident happened in the state.
Earlier in March, a 21-year-old man from the Asapila sector near the McMohan Line, was also abducted by the People’s Liberation Army. He was then released after 19 days of captivity.
These serious allegations which are being made by the family members and the MLA have flared up the tensions between India and China. In the past few days, China tried to occupy the southern bank of Pangong Tso lake of Indian territory, but it was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has occupied a large number of strategic highpoints on the Panging Tso lake and also strengthened it’s presence in Finger 2 and Finger 4 as well. However, China has strongly condemned this move, but India has maintained that the high points are on its side of the Line of Actual Control.
