New Delhi: The only survivor in the helicopter crash — that killed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, his wife and 12 others — Group Captain Varun Singh is critical and has been airlifted to Bengaluru.

Group Captain Singh was shifted in an ambulance from a military hospital in Wellington to the Sulur Air Base, from where he was airlifted to Bengaluru. He will undergo treatment at Bengaluru’s Command Hospital.

According to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement at the parliament this morning, Group Captain Singh is on life support and “all efforts are being made to save him”.

Group Captain Singh was rescued from the site of the crash to the military hospital in Wellington with severe burn injuries. His father, Colonel KP Singh (retired), had informed that he would be shifted to Bengaluru.
