New Delhi: In view of the surge in COVID-19 positive cases in various states, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has cancelled the ICSE class X board examination. The board said this after it had made the exam optional.
Earlier, the CISCE had postponed its Class X and XII examinations. However, now due to the “worsening situation” of the coronavirus pandemic and requests from parents and students made the board take this call.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students and teaching faculty is our topmost priority and of paramount interest,” the board stated in a circular.
The board also said further dates for the ISC Class XII examination will be announced in June. Though exams will be held for Class XII students later, students of class X were allowed to opt out of the exam or take the exam in offline mode.
