Kolkata: Finally East Bengal fans can heave a sigh of relief. The months-long tiff between sponsors Shree Cement and club officials seems to have been put to rest.
According to sources, the original contract with all necessary changes was sent to the club on Monday evening. Club authorities have already sent the contract to their lawyers for approval. Though there has been no written endorsement from East Bengal, a Shree Cement official informs that club authorities have verbally agreed to sign on dotted lines.
The good news is that Shree Cement has accepted almost all the demands of the club. Senior club official Debabrata Sarkar has even agreed to hand over all the information to the members of the club in compliance with the demands of the investors.
The bone of contention however hovers around the sponsors taking over the club tent which is not in accordance with the club officials.
It remains to be seen how things unfurl in the days to come but here’s hoping the die-hard fans are not left to suffer.
