Is Shah Rukh Khan planning a comeback with Yash Raj Films’ Pathan? Well, the buzz is strong and the audiences are getting impatient to see him back on screen. His last release was the average grosser Zero with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif that hit the screens in 2018. Since then, he has kept us on tenterhooks on his next.
There is no official confirmation on Pathan though we have been fed with speculations galore. One source claims that his next will be with Rajkumar Hirani. There were also news that he had signed Atlee’s film which will be his first on the comeback trail. There were also reports that he may be on board for Raj & DK’s project. Talks of Don and its next installment made headlines too.
Whichever way, it is time for SRK to take a call as time is running out. His die-hard fans might fume at this statement, but it is true that SRK is taking too much of time in deciding on his future as an actor. The buzz is that Shah Rukh is extremely baffled at this stage with his previous few not minting money at the box office – Dilwale, Fan, Raees and Zero and his calculations went haywire. So confident was the King that he tended to take his audiences for granted. If he thought, he would sweep his fans off their feet with his aura, the results spoke the opposite with dismal box-office returns.
Perhaps this is the reason why SRK is taking his own sweet time but simultaneously keeping himself in news with rumours. Honestly speaking, this is not the right move since audiences can fall for younger heroes in the industry who could capture their imagination. Another argument could be SRK toeing the Aamir Khan line. Aamir usually has one release in two-three years and it pays off, of course with exceptions like Talaash and Thugs of Hindostan that tanked at the box office.
There is no denying that SRK has reached a stage where it is all about quality and not quantity and a Shah Rukh release after ages means hype and that also unprecedented. We have seen this in the past how a long hiatus can earn you plaudits, but there is a time limit. While his contemporaries like Salman Khan and Aamir have releases coming up, SRK is still keeping us in the dark.
If the version that he has reconciled to the fact that cliched stories banking on stardom won’t pay you dividends, then it’s great news because the actor counts too much on his status giving two hoots to content. Yet having said that, he has to expedite the process.
The fact that there’s still so much of craze around an actor who hasn’t had a release for long, only speaks volumes of the popularity he still garners – but it’s time King you broke the NEWS. And the reason is we are dying to see you set the screen on fire with your invincibility.
We are watching!
