Mumbai: BCCI apex council has received a conflict of interest complaint against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s appointment as Team India mentor for T20 World Cup, PTI reports.
The complaint was lodged by Sanjeev Gupta, a former member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association on the ground that Dhoni being the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL cannot don the responsibility of the mentor of Team India. BCCI officials have written off the complaint terming it frivolous.
Dhoni was yesterday entrusted with the mentor’s job for the 15-member squad for the World Cup. Both BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah have thanked the former skipper for keeping the request. In fact, BCCI had spoken to Dhoni a couple of months back with the offer.
After getting a green signal from Dhoni, captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri were reportedly consulted and both them endorsed the move.
