Mumbai: Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who were arrested yesterday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after the recovery of cannabis from their residence and office in Andheri, Maharashtra, have been granted bail.

On Sunday, the magistrate’s court had sent Bharti and writer husband to judicial custody till December 4 in the drug-related case.

Case Of Consumption

Earlier, the NCB had sought Bharti and Haarsh’s custody, but the court refused it saying that it was only a case of consumption.

The NCB in its remand application had stated that Haarsh used to procure drugs and further mentioned that both confessed to consuming Ganja.

While hearing the matter, the court observed, “The drug seized from their residence is of a small quantity. Also, it’s a case of consumption only, hence police custody under such circumstances is not required.”

It also noted that the sections under which both have been booked attract only a year’s punishment, so the remand was not required.
