Kolkata: To put a check on the spread of coronavirus, the West Bengal government decided to extend the partial lockdown for another fortnight.
At a press conference in state secretariat Nabanna on Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the restrictions will continue till June 15. The chief minister though has repeatedly requested all not to call it a lockdown.
However, according to the CM, this is not an official announcement, the matter will be officially finalised and declared in the next two days.
West Bengal now has 1,23,377 active cases, while 11,79,999 patients have recovered from the disease, including 19,071 since Tuesday.
Meanwhile, at least 59,593 people were vaccinated in the state during the day.
