Kolkata: It was long overdue and finally Sourav Ganguly has nodded in the affirmative as far as his biopic is concerned.
Yes, the wait is over and the much-awaited story on Indian cricket’s Dada will be captured on screen and it is set to roll soon.
Though not too many details have been divulged yet, the former Indian skipper and current BCCI president has been quoted in the media saying the film in Hindi will be helmed by a top-notch director of the industry
The film will be produced by Viacom and the estimated budget would be around Rs 250 crore.
Now the question is who will play the legendary cricketer on the big screen?
In the past, Dada has spoken highly of Hrithik Roshan with whom he has also featured in a commercial though the former has had reservations about the actor’s physique which is chiselled unlike that of the Prince of Calcutta’s.
The name of Ranbir Kapoor is also doing the rounds for the titular role.
The author has himself written about Sourav’s fascination for Hrithik. When quizzed on his choice, Ganguly had said, “Yes Hrithik. I like him the most.”
Though there has been no official confirmation on Hrithik being taken on board with the actor’s PR team feigning ignorance, the buzz is that the superstar is very much in contention and is the first choice including Sourav’s. Irrespective of who steps into the former cricketer’s shoes, we will be the first to unfurl the story. Watch this space.
