Kolkata: It was 8 years ago that Deepika Padukone stunned the audiences and critics alike with her fabulous performance as Meenamma in Rohit Shetty’s superhit film, Chennai Express. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film had Shah Rukh Khan opposite her in the lead.

Not only did the actor further prove her mettle as an actor with a performance par excellence and make the character one of the most loved in the history of cinema, but she was also conclusively crowned Queen of Bollywood with this film.

In that way, it is also 8 years of Deepika’s reign in the industry, which still continues and doesn’t seem to be changing anytime in the near future as well. Credit to her having one of the best line up of films currently.

She took to her social media and shared a video from the film, marking 8 years to its release.

Deepika has an exciting lineup ahead, with films from different genres. Her plate is full with multiple projects – Nag Ashwin’s next opposite Prabhas, Bollywood remake of Hollywood’s The Intern alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Pathan with SRK, Fighter with Hrithik Roshan and Shakun Batra’s untitled film.

More on Deepika: Reportedly she has opted out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra starring her husband Ranveer Singh in the lead over pay issues. In fact, the story doing the rounds is that she demanded the same fees as that of Ranveer which was not agreed upon by the makers.
