Love Aaj Kal laid the foundation of a career that has featured a plethora of movies which catapulted Deepika to the status of a superstar in the true sense of the term-films like Ram-Leela, Padmaavat, Piku and Chhapak have taken her career to unprecedented heights. She is one of those actresses in the history of Indian cinema who can run a film on their own shoulders without riding piggyback on a male star’s charisma.
Honestly speaking, Love Aaj Kal goes down the annals of history as a film that was a bit ahead of its time yet managed to rake in the moolah at the box office. A statement on modern-day relationships, Deepika proved what it takes to be dare to be different.
Kudos to Deepika and her journey to the zenith. Made on a budget of Rs 56 crore, the film amassed close to Rs 70 crore at the domestic box office. The film also had a sequel or should we call it a remake in 2020, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan (helmed by Ali), which however tanked at the box office
Needless to say, the earlier version remains indomitable.
