New Delhi: A bailable warrant has been issued by a Delhi court against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira in a money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate had summoned Rujira multiple times for her alleged involvement in the coal scam in West Bengal.
She has repeatedly avoided summons and following which Delhi’s Patiala House Court issued a bailable arrest warrant against Rujira on Saturday. It is believed that after this order, there is no hindrance for the CBI to arrest Rujira.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarbaria passed the order on an application by the Enforcement Directorate. Special public prosecutor Nitesh Rana told the court on behalf of the investigating agency that accused Rujira Banerjee was neither appearing in court nor coming to the office of the investigating agency even though he has been summoned. The court has posted the matter for the next hearing on August 20.
