New Delhi: The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested six including two Pakistan-trained terrorists while unraveling a Pakistan-instigated terror module, according to India Today. Police have also seized RDX-fitted IEDs from the miscreants.
Delhi police suspect the terrorists had plans to attack political rallies in Uttar Pradesh (which hits the poll booths next year) and also designed ploy to launch assaults in Maharashtra and Delhi during the festive season.
The arrested are Jan Mohammed Sheikh from Maharashtra, Osama Sami from Delhi, Lala from UP’s Rae Bareily, Zeeshan from UP’s Prayagraj, Mohd Amir Javed from Lucknow. Out of them Osama and Jeeshan have received training in Pakistan.
“The arrested have stated that there were 14-15 Bangla speaking persons in their group who might have been taken for similar training. It looks like this operation was closely coordinated from across the border. There were two teams, one was being coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim. The team was also working towards organising funding through hawala,” said Neeraj Thakur, special CP, Special Cell.
