Bhopal: He is known as one of BJP’s most vocal critics, but when former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh seems in ‘awe’ of union Home Minister Amit Shah, sparks of doubts fly.
Singh while speaking at a book launch here reminisced the days when Shah despite being a political rival made sure the Congress team in Gujarat to campaign for the state polls was taken good care of.
“Once, we reached Gujarat at 10:30 pm. There was no way ahead through forested area and no facility for an overnight stay. A forest officer arrived and you’ll be surprised to know that he told me that Amit Shah had directed him to fully cooperate with us,” Singh was quoted by ANI.
“Elections were going on in Gujarat, Digvijaya Singh is their biggest critic, but he (Amit Shah) ensured that there should not be any problem during our yatra. They found the way for us through the mountains and also arranged for food for all of us,” the veteran Congress leader said.
And he continued with his words of praise for Shah, “Till today I have not met Amit Shah. But I expressed my gratitude to him through proper channels.”
Now, the question emerges: Is he the next to jump ship to the saffron party? You never know…Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke highly of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and in a ‘gesture of reciprocity’ Singh shows his reverence for Shah.
We are confused.
