New York: In the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Entertainment’, a millionaire had bequeathed all his wealth to his pet dog. Now in a real-life rerun of the reel caper, a dog in the US has inherited $5 million (Rs 36.29 crore) from her late owner.
Lulu, an eight-year-old Border Collie, was left with the mammoth amount after her owner, Bill Dorris, from Nashville, Tennessee in the US, died last year. Lulu typically plays a watchdog outside her home in Nashville but she can now afford to hire a security team for herself. The will of Lulu’s owner states that the money will be transferred to a trust so that it can be used to take care of her. According to the BBC, Dorris left the dog in the care of his friend, Martha Burton (88). The will states that Burton is to be reimbursed for Lulu’s reasonable monthly expenses.
Martha Burton, Lulu’s caretaker told WTVF-TV that Lulu’s owner Bill Dorris was a successful businessman. He wasn’t married and died late last year at the age of 84. His will named Lulu as his inheritor. Talking about Lulu’s relationship with Dorris, Burton told News Channel 5: “I don’t really know what to think about it to tell you the truth. He just really loved the dog.” Right now, it is unclear how much Dorris’ estate is worth, but according to The New York Post, his friends revealed that he owned enormous real estate holdings and investments.
Additionally, the large amount that Lulu has inherited does not mean that she or her new owner gets a free pass to spend it to their hearts’ will. The will simply permit Burton to be reimbursed for reasonable monthly expenses, India Today reported.
