Lakhimpur Kheri: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who on Wednesday, met the family of Nakshatra Singh, one of the deceased farmers in the violence here, has asked for the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni and the arrest of his son Ashish. Incidentally Teni and Ashish have been at the receiving end following allegations of their convoy mowing down four farmers here on Sunday.
Speaking to ANI after meeting the bereaved kin, she said, “These families don’t want compensation, they want justice. It can’t be possible unless he (Ajay Mishra Teni) resigns as MoS Home. Impartial probe not possible under him. If they can arrest us without FIR, why can’t they arrest him (Ashish Mishra)?”
Vadra was accompanied by her brother Rahul Gandhi and several other senior Congress leaders who spoke to the kin of the victims who were reportedly mercilessly killed. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has taken sou motu cognisance of the incident and will be taking up the case today.
