Ahmedabad: India thrashed England by 36 runs to win the decider fifth T20I in style to clinch the series 3-2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Saturday. In reply to India’s 224 for two, England were 188 for eight after their allotted 20 overs.
Earlier, India skipper Virat Kohli, who opened the innings, clobbered an unbeaten 80 off 52 balls (7x4s, 2x6s) and Rohit Sharma smashed 64 off 34 balls (4x4s, 5x6s) to power India to 224 for two — their highest score against England — after 20 overs.
Hardik Pandya stayed unbeaten on 39 off 17 balls (4x4s, 2x6s) and Suryakumar Yadav made 32 off 17 balls (3x4s, 2x6s) towards the close propelled the hosts to the mammoth total.
For England, Dawid Malan scored 68 and Jos Buttler made 52 to help the visitors reach 188 after 120 deliveries.
