Mumbai: Finally, cricket fans will have a date with nostalgia as the much-talked about ’83, a tribute to the heroics of the Indian cricket team under Kapil Dev in the 1983 Prudential Cup will hit the big screens during Christmas.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie has a galaxy of stars with Ranveer Singh essaying the role of the Haryana Hurricane who spearheaded India’s maiden World Cup triumph that laid the foundation of many a triumph in days that followed. Ranveer broke the news of the film’s release date on social media today.
With the Maharashtra government announcing reopening of theatres from October 22, filmmakers have been on war footing to release their projects languishing for months.

’83 is coproduced by Ranveer’s superstar wife Deepika Padukone who plays Dev’s better half Romi in the film.
Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead also has a release date (October 22) finalised and wait on, many more in the pipeline.
