Kolkata: Forty days after the murder Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim went to meet deceased Indian Secular Front (ISF) leader Anish Khan’s father, but the Mayor had to return empty handed on Friday. But Hakim came back without meeting the hapless father after locals and ISF personnel blocked his entry while shouting slogans.
Outraged with the incident, Hakim made a sensational statement by comparing the protesters and the ISF personnel to dogs and hyenas.
Firhad Hakim made the controversial statement pointing towards the workers of Abbasuddin Siddiqui-led ISF at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters on Saturday. He said that two-three boys were returning from Abbas Siddiqui’s meeting and they were responsible for the ruckus while shouting slogans.
“I see National Geographic from time to time. Tigers are often seen roaming the forest. And dogs and hyenas are barking from a distance. That doesn’t mean tigers are scared. Ignore it. I ignored it,” Firhad Hakim said.
