New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat’s funeral was performed with full military honours as government leaders and military personnel paid silent tribute on Friday. The cremation was performed by Gen Rawat’s daughters, Kritika and Tarini.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to Gen Rawat as bugles sounded at the backdrop. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also paid respects, as were a long queue of senior defence personnel.
Gen Rawat and his wife, Madhulika Rawat, were cremated at the Brar Square Crematorium. Just a few hours earlier, the armed forces bid goodbye to his aide, Brigadier LS Lidder at the same place. Elaborate arrangements were in place in which 800 service personnel participated.
