New Delhi: A statement that would surely be a shot in the arm for gau rakshak, the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday stated that cow should be declared the National Animal with all Fundamental Rights. Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav also urged the Union government to pass a bill in Parliament in this regard according to The Indian Express.
The court’s observation was made while denying bail to a person charged under the Prevention of Slaughter Act in Uttar Pradesh.
“Only if a cow is revered, country will prosper,” the court added. Now, with several BJP-ruled states mulling a ban on cow slaughter, this observation would only give them the much-needed impetus.
