New Delhi: Bhim Army chief, Chandrashekhar Azad, who led the protest in Delhi demanding justice for the Hathras gangrape victim and her family, said that he was detained and put under house arrest in Saharanpur district by the Uttar Pradesh Police.
In a tweet, Azad wrote, “The whole world saw how our sister was cremated at night in the absence of the family and without their consent, in connivance of the government and the police. The morality of these people is dead. I was detained by their police the night before and now I have been put under house arrest in Saharanpur. But we will fight.”
लेकिन हम लडेंगे pic.twitter.com/e36WjZfY0L

He also shared a picture of the notice issued to him which read, “You are being informed that CrPC section 144 is imposed in the district. There are credible inputs that your tours and acts are gathering crowds, which may lead to law and order situation”.
“Any untoward incident may happen. Hence, you are being informed that you will stay in your house only”.
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to the Director-General of Police (DGP) and chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday over the Hathras gangrape case where a Dalit woman was gang-raped by four upper-caste men.
The DGP and chief secretary are asked to present a detailed report of the incident within one month.
The girl’s mortal remains were hurriedly cremated by Uttar Pradesh Police even as the family members protested and demanded to take the girl home one last time.
Reportedly, there was no family members when the cremation took place.
However, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be visiting the family of the Hathras rape victim in Uttar Pradesh.
The woman succumbed to her multiple fractures, paralysis, neck injuries and a mutilated tongue in Safdarjung Hospital.
