HC Gives Relief To Durga Puja Organisers, Allows More People In Pandals

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court gave some relief to puja organisers in the state and issued a set of new rules and relaxations after the it had earlier imposed a ban on public entry.

The court declared all the pandals as no-entry zones to prevent the rise in COVID-19 cases in WB.

On Wednesday, the high court heard petition filed by a group of Durga Puja organisers and issued a set of rules and allowed more people to enter the pandals and asked the bigger pujas to expand area.

However, the court still not gave permission for the rituals like ‘Anjali‘ and ‘Sindur Khela’.

The court directives-

1) Dhakis are allowed to be present just outside the no-entry zone.

2) List of persons who are allowed inside the pandal should be fixed on everyday basis and the list has to be hung every day at 8 am.

3) For the smaller pujas the number of maximum people allowed is 15.

4) For the larger pujas (pandals must be more than 300 sq mts in size) and the maximum number of people is 60, but not more than 45 at any point of time.
