Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has attacked the BJP-led Centre for allocating only Rs 400 crore for the state in anticipation of the large-scale destruction that is expected to be caused by Cyclone Yaas.
“MHA assured an advance relief of Rs 600 crores to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh but only Rs 400 crores to West Bengal. This is discriminatory,” Mamata Banerjee told a news conference here on Monday.
According to the CM, arrangements are being made to save lives and prevent large-scale destruction as much as possible. She said that 10 lakh people will be evacuated.
“4000 cyclone shelters are ready, 10 lakh people to be evacuated. 51 disaster management teams, 1,000 electricity & 400 mobile network restoration teams formed. 20 districts will be severely affected,” Mamata said.
