Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will be provided with Y-plus category security, by the Union Home Ministry for her Mumbai visit on September 9, said government officials on Monday.
Ranaut will be protected by a personal security officer (PSO) with 11 armed policemen including commandos, said sources in the Home Ministry. The decision was taken due to a “renewed threat to the actor after she spoke about drug use among a section in the film industry following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput,” as quoted by NDTV.
The 33-year-old actress, thanking Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “This proves that a patriot’s voice cannot be crushed by. I am grateful to Amit Shah, if he wanted, he could have advised me to go to Mumbai after a few days but he respected a daughter of India, protected her pride and self-respect. Jai Hind,” she wrote in Hindi.
