Kolkata: The International Human Rights Council of India (IHRCI) is aiming to eradicate social injustices on women and violations of women rights. The message was spelt out loud and clear at a press conference at the Press Club, Kolkata, on Friday.
The organisation was formed on September 9, 2020, and already boats of 200-plus members. The officials are hoping that the number would cross 1000 by the end of this year.
“Women is not for sale and say ‘no’ to Dowry system,” IHRCI president, AC Bhowmick said. “We look to help the helpless people of the society, mainly women and children,” he said.
IHRCI, having its main branch in Kolkata, is looking to setup branches in Bhowanipore, Durgapur, Asansol, Bardhaman. They even plan to spread their branches outside India, like in USA, where they have already started some ‘preliminary’ work and also in Bangladesh.
The Press conference was followed by the book release ceremony of the IHRCI.
